Thanks to today’s technology, patients now have more options than ever when it comes to types of braces. While standard metal braces are still widely used, clear braces are becoming increasingly popular along with removable appliances that can be used for mild cases of misaligned teeth.

Metal Braces

metal bracesMetal braces are the most common type. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.

Ceramic Braces

ceramic bracesCeramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawback to ceramic brackets is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.

Invisalign®

invisalignInvisalign® is a series of clear, plastic aligners that straighten your teeth without the usual noticeable, bulky materials involved with traditional braces. No one will know you’re improving your smile unless you tell them!

Empower® Braces

Empower® is a series of self-ligating braces from American Orthodontics. Self-ligating braces utilize lighter wires and lower friction brackets to move teeth, resulting in faster treatment times and greater overall comfort. In addition to greater comfort, self-ligating braces make it easier to maintain good hygiene because they are easier to keep clean. Empower® Brackets are available in both metal and clear ceramic material.
